Outcomes updated as of
July 25, 2020

419 different areas of osteomyelitis to date have been treated with the percutaneous antibiotic delivery technique (PADT) or the Micro Bead Packing Technique with either IV or oral antibiotics for four weeks.
Antibiotics used with either technique to date includes are Rifampin, Vancomycin, Tobramycin, Vancomycin and Tobramycin combination, Pipercillin-tazobactrum (Zosyn), Ticaracillin-clavulanic acid (Timentin), Ceftriaxone (Fortaz), Ancef, Maxipime (Cefepime), Primaxin (Imipenem), Daptomycin, and Poly myxin B.
The anti-fungal medication used to date is Voriconazol date.
Of the 358 PADT cases there were 17 failures where bone resection or amputation was necessary. A 96.25% success rate. Of the 61 Micro Bead Packing Cases cases there were 5 failures where bone resection or amputation was necessary. A 91.8% success rate. The longest follow up is now to 128 months for the PADT cases - almost eleven years and 28 months for the Micro Bead Packing Cases.
I have the only long term human published data for the PADT:
1. 1. Karr, JC. Lower Extremity Osteomyelitis Treatment Utilizing Calcium Sulfate/Hydroxyapatite Bone Void Filler
With Antibiotics: Seven-Year Retrospective Study. May/June 2018 Vol 108 No 3 pg 210-214. Journal of the
American Podiatric Medical Association.
Below is a downloadable file of the paper with the human data.
